***RUN! They are the worst!

I don't know how this company is in business. The owner is nonexistent. Especially if there's an issue. He hides. When the day came to install the generator, the owner called me and tried to talk me out of the model I purchased. It was strange. After further questioning him, I caught him in a lie and it turns out he never ordered the correct wiring or equipment for this size generator so he tried to sell me an insufficient option for a whooping $100 off! I told him no and he had to order the right equipment. When his "technicians" arrived they all were freely talking about how the owner and his family are running the company into the ground. After getting to work the techs were inside of my home screaming profanities at the top of their lungs at each other. I went to see what was going on and the one was on the phone with his girlfriend cussing at her and the other two were arguing. I looked around and saw they tracked mud all through the house and all over the entire basement. It was an absolute disaster. All over new flooring and kids toys. Just a mess. I pointed it out and they said it would all be cleaned up. After I went upstairs I heard them talking and they said “this job is impossible”. They talked about how they didn't know how to complete the work that I was paying them for. They talked about just walking off the job and quitting. They admitted to each other that the basement was completely destroyed. They didn’t finish the job that day and they left the place a mess. The next day they did not show up because they had another job scheduled. My house was left a complete disaster, without internet (Since they knocked that out, day 1) and with incomplete open electrical work for 4 days. When they finally came back to finish the job the mess was never cleaned up and no one even told me they were done or how the system worked. They just left. It was up to me to clean up their mess, tack up their dangling wires, and finish up. I would not recommend them to anyone.

What do they do?

I called to get a part and even before I told them the part number, I was told they do not have that. No voltage regulator for a Generac generator? No offer to order one?

Very Disappointed

I called early morning and was told a service tech would phone back. Around 4:30P I phoned back and secretary said she was sorry and would put me through to a tech. I spoke with Mike and explained issue. I was told a $200 part was needed. I questioned this due to many other situations that could cause the same issue. I was told a tech could come to the house for $150 and diagnose my problem. I agreed with having a tech come to the house. I was told the secretary would call me right back to set up an appointment. I'm not sure why I wasn't simply transferred back to the secretary. I have not received a call back. I don't think Mike appreciated my questioning his suggestion to by a part and see if it fixed the problem. I will be looking for another company to help me out.

Professional, confident and friendly service

Adam and Dennis, the professional installers of our generator were fabulous with whom to work. They were detailed, polite, professional, down-to-earth and shared a good sense of humor. Two thumbs up for how we were treated by Portman Electric and the three employees, (including Dustin, the one who assessed and then quoted our installation) with whom we interacted. In addition, a follow up call to the office was answered by Diana, who again was friendly, efficient and detailed.

From the day i first received a quote, to the installation team, everyone I dealt with was professional and committed to doing the job right. They also were approachable and able to answer all of my questions. First class operation here.

Superb service

Every single person with whom I dealt at this company was friendly, knowledgeable, and an outstanding professional. This type of customer service is very rare indeed these days. We made a major, and expensive, purchase, and I was at first nervous. Portman Electric turned that feeling around with its superb service.

Excellent dealer/installer

We contacted a few Generac Dealers in the area and received quotes from all of them. Portman was the most knowledgable and professional. They weren't the lowest initial cost however, they were offering an Angie's List coupon which lowered they're price to the same or better than the other dealers. Glad we decided to go with Portman!
