TERRIBLE PRODUCT

DON’T BUY GENERAC! Five years ago, Rowan-Iredell Fire Department spent over $25,000 for a standby generator for our volunteer fire department to serve as a storm shelter in the event of a power outage. Generac has been trying to repair the 48KW generator since October 2025. The authorized repair tech from Canter Power Systems has been onsite and contacted GENERAC multiple times for diagnostic troubleshooting. GENERAC has recommended to replace two computer modules, the entire wiring harness, and the throttle body (ITS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD!) All of the recommended repairs have been done by the repair tech and it still doesn’t run. Today on 1/23/26 (one day before the expected winter storm) the repair tech was here again. After spending the entire day diagnosing, GENERAC technical support basically said they don’t know what else to try and sent the tech home. They have left our fire department stranded and refuse to provide the fire department with a temporary generator to get us through the storm. We have submitted a claim to replace ours with a brand new generator, which GENERAC said would take at least a month to process!! Thanks to GENERAC and their wonderful customer service, we have been forced to remove a small generator from one of our fire trucks and connect it to the breaker panel. This will provide us with just enough power to keep the essentials of our fire department functional. We will have heat, a few lights, and restrooms available for anyone who needs it. We also have propane powered grills to cook food for the public if needed. Tell your friends, family, and everyone you know that GENERAC has zero remorse or concern for emergency facilities designed to be a safe shelter for those in need…
