Very disappointed in their response

Anderson York installed my generator 7 years ago. I had felt good about working with them until my most recent problem. My generator didn't turn on for it's normal weekly run. I have an annual monitoring contract and contacted them to ask if they had seen a problem. They said they did but normally waited a week or two to see if it corrected itself. That didn't please me and I asked them to come check it out. David came and after a couple of days of not hearing anything I called him and asked what was going on. He said he had been talking to the factory and his Dad would send me an email. The email arrived and to say I was shocked was an understatement. It said my oil pump needed to be replaced and they would have to take the generator back into the shop to fix it. They would cost at least $7,500. Since the generator is 7 years old they recommended that I replace it for $12,000. Amazing since the generator had been used very little. I immediately decided to get a second opinion. If this indeed was the case I would be extremely unhappy with Generac generators. I turned to another company with excellent reviews, Florida Power Solutions. For $143 they replaced my oil pressure switch. It has been two months and my generator is working fine. Obviously I would NOT recommend using Anderson York.

Couldn't get the job done.

After years of replacing parts and attempting to fix my generator, Anderson York was unable to resolve the no start issue with my generator. There was a never ending litany of excuses for why the most recent repair had not been successful. It became of matter of "well, let's try this next". I could no longer continue to finance this repair by trial and error method of repair, so we parted ways.

3 months without working generator

I have used them in the past for basic maintenance without incident. HOWEVER when our generator malfunctioned I called them for repair. They have been here 4 times and practically replaced all of the electrical parts and the unit is just as it was 3 months ago, not functioning. Their typical diagnostic catch all was a lightning strike. Now they are calling other technicians for advise and guidance. There service is like school training 101, very disappointed.

Suggest a Change in Career Direction

I called this dealer to provide him with flood zone information related to his quote for the installation of a residential backup generator, however he became very defensive and irritated when I mentioned his quote would be compared to another dealer's. He said he would go ahead and send the preliminary quote then come by the house for the site review but did neither without any further follow up. He sold heavily against his local competition by berating their quality of work. Just not a professional approach from any aspect.
